Mystic Seaport: historic ships, Maritime museum and sailing lessons

Set sail into a maritime adventure at the Mystic Seaport: The Museum of America and the Sea. The largest maritime museum in the country, Mystic Seaport harkens back to a time when tall ships crisscrossed the Atlantic in search for goods and new worlds. View the historic, 19th-century vessels set in quiet dignity in the harbor. From sail-powered fishing schooners to the only surviving wooden whaler in the U.S., the Mystic Seaport celebrates the area's seafaring history. After exploring the museum's exhibits and historic vessels, charter a schooner with billowing sails and learn how to sail with the family. Stroll the 19 acres of botanic gardens and historic buildings, recreated to reflect the Mystic River in the 19th century.
